Softball Recap: Christian Liberty Chargers vs. St. Edward Green Wave
Christian Liberty had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-6 to make it eight. They came up short against the St. Edward Green Wave, falling 18-0. Having soared to a lofty 22 runs in the game before, the Chargers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
As for St. Edward, the win got them back to even at 10-10. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For St. Edward's part, Kendall Pemberton was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Pemberton was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 games.
In other batting news, Alaina Nolan was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April. Francesca Buono also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Coming up, Christian Liberty will host Harvest Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on the 14th. As for St. Edward, they will face off against Wheaton Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Green Wave surely won't give up without a fight.
