Basketball Game Preview: Davie County War Eagles vs. Alexander Central Cougars + How To Watch

The Davie County War Eagles will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Alexander Central Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Davie County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against West Rowan, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The War Eagles fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 61-58 on Wednesday. The War Eagles have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Lexi Mickey put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted 26 points.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Alexander Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-47 win over Hibriten. The Cougars' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Davie County better keep an eye on Meredith Wike. She was instrumental in Alexander Central's win, almost dropping a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wike has scored at least a third of the Cougars' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malayah Adams, who had 12 points and three steals.

Alexander Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Alexander Central's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Davie County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Davie County ended up a good deal behind Alexander Central in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, losing 62-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wike, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and 11 boards.
