Soccer Game Preview: Matoaca vs. Dinwiddie

The Matoaca Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Dinwiddie Generals at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Matoaca has five straight wins, Dinwiddie has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Matoaca proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by five) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let Prince George get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Matoaca's winning goal came courtesy of Kenyon Kantiok.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Dinwiddie's offense. They fell 2-0 to Meadowbrook on Thursday.

Matoaca pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Dinwiddie, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything went Matoaca's way against Dinwiddie when the teams last played back in March, as Matoaca made off with a 4-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
