Football Recap: Victory Christian Takes a Loss

Victory Christian extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-7. They took a blow against the Sulphur Bulldogs, falling 59-0. Considering the last time the Conquerors couldn't score was back in August, the team can't take the result too hard.

As for Sulphur, their win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 51.0 points this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sulphur to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kale Brakefield, who threw for 255 yards and four touchdowns while completing 92.9% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Brakefield a new career-high in passer rating (171.1). 126 of Brakefield's passing yards were hauled in by Bridge Barrett, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Victory Christian will face off against Seminole at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Conquerors will be up against the Chieftains' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Sulphur, they will host Mannford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 930 yards in their previous games.
