Volleyball Game Preview: Shelley Russets vs. Skyline Grizzlies

The Shelley Russets will venture away from home to square off against the Skyline Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Shelley has five straight wins, Skyline has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Tuesday, Shelley was able to grind out a solid victory over Blackfoot, taking the game 3-1.

Shelley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-22.

Shelley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ashtyn Davis out in front who had 18 digs. Davis has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more digs the last 16 times she's played. Emmersyn Drollinger was another key player, getting 12 digs.

Meanwhile, Skyline came up short against Hillcrest on Tuesday and fell 3-1.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 23-25, 25-15, 25-16.

Skyline's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Shelley, their victory bumped their record up to 20-4.

Shelley was able to grind out a solid win over Skyline when the teams last played back in September, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Russets since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
