Basketball Game Preview: Southridge Spartans vs. Steinbrenner Warriors

Two dominant guards in Naya Hardisson and Naomi Parker are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After both having extra time off, the Southridge Spartans and the Steinbrenner Warriors will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Southridge sitting on five straight victories and Steinbrenner on three.

Southridge is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup last Friday. They came out on top against Nova by a score of 65-54.

Southridge can attribute much of their success to Sakura Barnes, who posted 22 points, and Dianka Hardisson, who had 19 points. That's the most points Barnes has posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Steinbrenner beat Sickles 71-61 last Friday.

Steinbrenner's win came from a few key players Southridge will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Parker, who went 8-for-12 from beyond the arc on her way to 28 points along with eight assists and eight boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 40% in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sarah Coble, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Steinbrenner was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They racked up nine more assists than Sickles' also-impressive total of 11.

Steinbrenner's win bumped their record up to 26-3. As for Southridge, their victory bumped their record up to 16-10.
