St. Johns lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Ionia, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. The Redwings simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Bulldogs 49-16. This was payback for the Redwings, who suffered a 16-13 loss the last time these two teams met.

Xavier Benjamin was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 66 yards and a pair of TDs on only six carries.

St. Johns has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 35.5 points this season. As for Ionia, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

St. Johns and Ionia will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Redwings are set to challenge their familiar foe Fowlerville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Ionia will face off against rival Eaton Rapids at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
