Basketball Recap: Eastern Comes Up Short

Eastern easily dispatched East Clinton on Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Warriors fell just short of the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs by a score of 45-42 on Monday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Addy Carraher was the offensive standout of the contest as she posted ten points and four steals. Those four steals gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Ferguson, who had ten points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Eastern's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lynchburg-Clay, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Eastern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-38 win against Valley on the 26th. As for Lynchburg-Clay, they will square off against McClain at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
