Softball Game Preview: Biglerville Canners vs. York County Tech Spartans

The Biglerville Canners will square off against the York County Tech Spartans at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Biglerville will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Littlestown, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Biglerville skirted past Littlestown 7-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Canners.

Kierney Weigle was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Strawsburg, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for York County Tech, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Hanover 14-3 on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their one-run performance the game before.

Raelynn Kelley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Kelley was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordynn Leiphart, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Cadence Sawyer was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

York County Tech's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Biglerville, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Biglerville took their win against York County Tech when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-6. Does Biglerville have another victory up their sleeve, or will York County Tech turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
