Softball Recap: Saranac Lake Red Storm vs. AuSable Valley Patriots
Saranac Lake had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the AuSable Valley Patriots on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Saranac Lake of the 1-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.
For AuSable Valley's part, Laina Jennings made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off 12 hits (and not a single walk). Jennings was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Addie Stanley was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Annika LaMountain was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Saranac Lake will be playing at home against Northern Adirondack at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for AuSable Valley, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-0 loss vs. Ticonderoga on the 16th.
