Basketball Game Preview: Beaverhead County Beavers vs. Butte Central Catholic Maroons

The Beaverhead County Beavers are taking a road trip to take on the Butte Central Catholic Maroons at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Beaverhead County will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Last Saturday, Beaverhead County humbled Corvallis with a 57-25 victory. The Beavers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 30 points or more this season.

Kyler Engellant was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The game was his 11th in a row with at least ten points. Carter Curnow was another key player, going 5 for 7 en route to 13 points.

Meanwhile, Butte Central Catholic suffered their closest loss since February 3, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Hamilton by a score of 62-60. The Maroons have struggled against the Broncs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Beaverhead County pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Butte Central Catholic, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-5.

Beaverhead County came up short against Butte Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 52-46. Can Beaverhead County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
