Volleyball Recap: Don Soffer Aventura Takes a Loss

Don Soffer Aventura was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Scheck Hillel Community School Lions. The Barracuda were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Don Soffer Aventura started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-12.

Their offense was headlined by Artem Voronov and Artem Leonov, who picked up 13 kills apiece. They got some help from Jimmy Baker and his two assists. Voronov was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Don Soffer Aventura's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Scheck Hillel Community School, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Looking ahead, Don Soffer Aventura will venture away from home to challenge Monsignor Pace at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Scheck Hillel Community School, they will take on Horeb Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
