Basketball Recap: Thomson Takes a Loss

Thomson's tournament run continued when they took on Augusta Christian on Saturday. The Thomson Bulldogs took a 72-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Augusta Christian Lions. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while the Lions are ranked 18th).

Despite the loss, Thomson still got an impressive performance from Markevion Jones, who posted 22 points. The game was Jones' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaris Sinkfield, who earned 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Thomson and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Augusta Christian, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Thomson and Twiggs County will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Augusta Christian, they will take on Silver Bluff in a tournament on Friday.
