Softball Recap: Laurence Manning Academy Beats East Clarendon for Their Eighth Straight Victory

Laurence Manning Academy had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. Everything went their way against the East Clarendon Wolverines as they made off with a 10-2 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-4 last Thursday.

Laini Kosinski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last seven matches.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ashley Rae Hodge, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Parmenter Avins, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Laurence Manning Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in ten consecutive games.

Laurence Manning Academy pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for East Clarendon, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Laurence Manning Academy will face off against Colleton Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Clarendon, they will host Kingstree at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kingstree will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
