Baseball Game Preview: Elk Grove Thundering Herd vs. Pleasant Grove Eagles

For the second straight game, Elk Grove will face off against Pleasant Grove. Elk Grove will look to defend their home field on Friday against Pleasant Grove at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Elk Grove has five straight victories, Pleasant Grove has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Elk Grove and Pleasant Grove had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Elk Grove walked away with a 4-1 win over Pleasant Grove on Wednesday. The game was the first time the Thundering Herd have beaten the Eagles on their field since March 25, 2023.

Anthony Bascherini tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Elk Grove saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brent Martin, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Pleasant Grove's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Elk Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
