Baseball Recap: Camarillo Beats Long Beach Poly for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Camarillo walked away with it. They won by a run and slipped past the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits 4-3. The victory was nothing new for the Scorpions as they're now sitting on five straight.

Ryan Coyne tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Camarillo is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 12-15 otherwise.

At the plate, Camarillo's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nate Escobar, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Camarillo's victory bumped their record up to 15-16. As for Long Beach Poly, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-14.

Coming up, Camarillo will face off against Elsinore at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Scorpions surely won't give up without a fight. Long Beach Poly does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
