The past decade has produced some amazing high school football talent. Today, we look back at the best players who took the field from 2010 to 2019.
The list includes 100 players and features Heisman Trophy winners, college football national champions, impact players in the NFL and recruits from the Class of 2020 prepped to be the next marquee names.
We break the 100 players into three teams of offense and defense and draw from the hotbed states of California (19 players), Florida (12), Texas (11) and Georgia (9). In all, 24 states are represented.
The Class of 2014 has the most selections with 18, followed by the Class of 2017 with 15. The classes of 2013, 2019 and 2020 each had 10 players land on the list.
MaxPreps All-Decade High School Football Team
First Team Offense
Went
43-0 as the starting quarterback, leading Eagles to three
consecutive state titles. The only two-time MaxPreps National Player of the Year accounted for 14,525 yards (10,386 passing, 4,139
rushing) and 186 touchdowns (117 passing, 69 rushing).
Georgia's
all-time leader in passing yards (13,908) and touchdown passes (161) finished
his career with a 52-4 record and led the Hurricanes to a pair of
state titles.
Threw
for more than 12,000 yards and 152 touchdowns despite only playing three
seasons. Named MaxPreps Player of the Year and
Gatorade Athlete of the Year after leading the Monarchs wire-to-wire national championship.
His
12,124 rushing yards ranks No. 1 all-time in high school football.
During his senior season he had 462 carries for 4,261 yards and 55 touchdowns while averaging 327.8 yards per game. Named the MaxPreps Player of the Year in 2012.
The
last running back to finish as the top overall recruit in the 247Sports
composite rankings and the only player in state history to be named
the Gatorade Player of the Year twice.
Only
his final two years count during the last decade but still put up
big-time numbers during that span accounting for nearly 8,000 total
yards and 131 touchdowns. His 205 career touchdowns is tops in
high school football history.
No. 1 recruit in the 247Sports composite and like Gray only his
final two years count as part of the last decade. He still racked up 197
receptions for 3,939 yards and 39 touchdowns. His 6,356 receiving yards
rank second all-time.
Former Little League World Series star is the all-time leader in career receiving yards with 6,566.
Ranks
third in Texas history with 5,414 career receiving yards. Caught 109 passes for 2,132 yards and 34 touchdowns in his senior year
while leading Rockwall to first state semifinal appearance since
1987.
Named
the Gatorade Player of the Year this past season after leading Blue Devils to first state championship since 1967. Had 105 receptions
for 1,860 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2019 and finished his career with
over 3,500 yards and 36 scores.
Lost one game as a three-year starter and was named to the all-state
team during his junior and senior seasons. Top rated offensive
lineman from the Class of 2016.
The
top-rated offensive lineman in the country was a 5A all-state selection
as a junior and senior and was a first-team MaxPreps All-American in
2013.
Named
the Florida Daily Farmers Class 6A Player of the Year after a dominant
senior season. He was a first-team selection on the 2012 MaxPreps
All-American squad and the No. 1 rated offensive lineman in high
school football.
Kept
Josh Rosen's jersey clean and paved the way for a 2,000-plus yard season for
Sean McGrew on the ground while leading the Braves to their first CIF Open Division state championship in 2013.
The
top-rated offensive lineman in the Class of 2015 was an easy selection on the 2014 MaxPreps All-American first team.
Led Sabercats to three state titles and was named the Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year after accounting for nearly 3,000 all purpose
yards and 42 touchdowns in 2014. Finished his high school career with
over 2,600 yards rushing, nearly 4,000 yards receiving, 94 total
touchdowns, 127 tackles and 11 interceptions.
Accounted
for 13,243 yards (8,140 passing, 5,103 rushing) and 149 total
touchdowns during his career and led the Arrows to their first
state championship in 2016.
Ranks second all-time with 51 career field goals according to the
NFHS record books.
His eight field goals of 50-plus yards is a state record. He was a first-team MaxPreps All-American selection as a junior and senior.
Myles Garrett, Martin

The only defensive player to be named the MaxPreps Player of the Year.
Accounted for 162 tackles, 29.5 sacks and 29
tackles for loss during senior season. The No. 1 rated player in the country also forced 11
fumbles and scored five defensive touchdowns.
Only
Leonard Fournette was rated higher in the 247Sports composite rankings for the Class of 2014. He racked up 81 tackles, 19.5 sacks, forced three
fumbles and blocked four field goals during his senior season.
Named
the Virginia Gatorade Football Player of the Year as a senior,
finished with over 300 tackles and 44 sacks.
Was
the top-rated linebacker in his class and helped lead the Knights to
four consecutive state titles. Named Mr. Football in Indiana as a senior
and was a three-time, all-state first-team selection.
Helped lead
University Lab (Baton Rouge, La.)
to a state title during his sophomore season and racked up 116 tackles
during his lone season at IMG Academy while leading Ascenders to a No. 2 finish in the Top 25 rankings.
Finished
with 438 tackles, 61.5 tackles for loss, 18
sacks, six interceptions and accounted for 12 touchdowns. Was
named the Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior
and led the Eagles to first state championship.
The top-rated linebacker from the Class of 2020 ended his career with 434 tackles, 48 tackles for loss and 24 sacks.
Awarded
the Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior and
finished with 27 interceptions.
A three-time all-state selection who helped Alabama power to back-to-back state titles in 2012 and 2013.
A big-time playmaker no matter where he lined up. Had 17 career interceptions, 105 tackles, over 2,000 total yards, 22 touchdowns and three return scores.
DB — Elias Ricks, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), Class of 2020 Helped
lead Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) to back-to-back state titles during
his sophomore and junior season before finishing at
IMG Academy.
Won
four consecutive state titles — the first two coming at Don Bosco
Prep (Ramsey, N.J.). Racked up nearly 4,000 total yards and 60
touchdowns to go with 134 tackles and seven interceptions on defense.
Averaged better than 46 yards per punt during his senior season and was the top-rated punter in Class of 2012.

QB — Bryce Young, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), Class of 2020 Threw
for over 13,000 yards and accounted for 178 touchdowns. Led Monarchs to a CIF Open Division state
championship during his junior season and was named the Co-Player of the
Year in 2019.
QB — DJ Uiagalelei, St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), Class of 2020 Shared
the MaxPreps Player of the Year award with Young after throwing for 4,225 yards
and 48 touchdowns during his senior season. Led the Braves to a CIF Open
Division state title last year and ended his career with over 10,000
yards passing and 127 touchdowns.
Never lost a game as the starting quarterback for the Gaels. Named the MaxPreps Player of the Year and Gatorade Player of the Year after leading the Las Vegas power to a national championship. Finished his three-year career accounting for 9,801 yards (7,507 passing, 2,294 rushing) and 148 touchdowns (113 passing, 35 rushing).
Ranks second all-time on the national list for career rushing yards (12,121) and his 192 touchdowns are third-most.
Ended his career with 8,981 yards rushing and 147 touchdowns.
The No. 1 rated running back in the Class of 2018 rushed for over 7,000 yards and 119 touchdowns.
Pennsylvania's all-time leader in receiving yards (5,514) and touchdowns (77). Only lost one game as Tigers won three consecutive state titles. Ended prep career on 48-game win streak.
Led Cavaliers to a state championship during his sophomore season and ended his final two years with 166 receptions for nearly 3,000 yards and 45 touchdowns.
Had over 3,500 yards receiving over his last three seasons and led Warriors to a 6A state title in 2012.
Wrapped up his high school with three consecutive 1,000-plus receiving yard seasons to go with 48 touchdowns.
One of the best offensive lineman from the Peach State. Ivey was the only offensive tackle rated higher than Hyatt from the Class of 2015.
OL — Tommy Brown, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), Class of 2018 The leader on the offensive line for the Southern California power. Anchored one of the best lines ever during the Monarch's 2017 National Championship season.
Dominated defensive lines on Friday nights and played a major role for the Fighting Irish's state championship in 2017.
OL — Wyatt Davis, St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), Class of 2017 One of the best players to come through Jason Negro's program, helped the Braves a CIF Open Division state championship in 2016.
Made a huge impact for one of the highest scoring offenses of the last decade.
AP — Bru McCoy, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), Class of 2019 Named the MaxPreps Football Player of the Year in 2018 after leading Monarchs to their second consecutive state title. Ended his career with over 2,600 yards receiving and 34 touchdowns to go with 49 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and 13 sacks on defense.
One of the most well-rounded players, the California standout rushed for over 3,000 yards and 40 touchdowns the last two years of his career to go with more than 100 tackles.
Ranks No. 1 all-time with 56 career field goals.
Owen Pappoe, Grayson

The top-rated player in the Class of 2016 racked up over 100 tackles and 27.5 sacks during his two years with the Paladins.
The consensus No. 1 player in the country ended with 41 sacks and led Rams to first state title during his junior season.
Posted 38 sacks and 54 tackles for loss during his two years while leading Stags to back-to-back WCAC titles.
Recorded 54 sacks during his career. The No. 2 overall player on 247Sports composite rankings for the Class of 2019.
The 5-star racked up 314 tackles and 38 sacks during his final two years.
The No. 1 linebacker in the Class of 2013 had 399 tackles from his sophomore to senior season.
LB — Owen Pappoe, Grayson (Loganville, Ga.), Class of 2019 Became the first freshman to earn an invite to The Opening. One of the Peach State's best ever.
LB — Michael Hutchings, De La Salle (Concord, Calif.), Class of 2013Led the Spartans to three consecutive CIF Open Division state championships. Had 222 tackles and five interceptions from his sophomore to senior season while going 42-1 during that span.
Never lost a game with the Gaels. Had over 100 tackles, 11 interceptions and the biggest blocked field goal in program history in a three-overtime win over St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) during his senior season.
Won four state championships as the 5-star had 130 tackles, 12 interceptions and over 1,000 yards receiving to go with 13 touchdowns during his career.
Became the first player to be named to the 5A all-state team on both sides of the ball. During his two years that count towards the last decade he had 136 tackles, eight interceptions and rushed for over 1,200 yards and 21 touchdowns his senior season.
Fitzpatrick could very well be the best for Rich Hansen and the Marauders. Led St. Peter's Prep to the Non-Public Group 4 title during his senior season as one of the most dynamic players on both sides of the ball.
Racked up 285 tackles, six
interceptions, 27 sacks, forced 13 fumbles and accounted for 33 total
touchdowns on offense during final three seasons.
A consensus all-state selection as a junior and senior while being named to the MaxPreps All-American first team in 2015.

Only Lawrence has thrown for more yards and touchdowns in Georgia
history. Led Red Elephants to their only state title during his junior season.
California's all-time passing leader ranks third in high school football history with 16,775 yards. His 229 career passing touchdowns are tops.
Only his final two years count toward and during that span he threw for over 11,000 yards and 137 touchdowns. He added another 2,700 yards on the ground and 40 more scores. Mauk's 18,932 yards passing is the most all-time.
The soon to be No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL draft ranks fourth all-time in state history with 11,428 yards passing. His 156 passing touchdowns rank third in Ohio history only trailing the Mauk brothers.
Finished with 14,565 yards passing, which ranks in the all-time Top 10. Owns the single-game record with 837 yards passing and his 195 touchdown passes is third most.
Accounted for over 5,000 all-purpose yards during his last two years and 90 touchdowns.
Was the No. 2 overall recruit in the Class of 2017 according to 247Sports composite rankings. Rushed for nearly 8,000 yards and 93 touchdowns from his sophomore to senior season.
His 7,036 yards rushing are the second-most in state history and his 114 career touchdowns are No. 1 all-time. He was named the Arizona Gatorade Football Player of the Year after rushing for 2,235 yards and 38 touchdowns while averaging 17.7 yards per carry during his senior season.
RB — Trey Sanders, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), Class of 2019 The bigger the moment, the better Sanders played. He was the top-rated running back in the country on 247Sports composite rankings and a MaxPreps All-American first team selection in 2018.
His 5,485 yards receiving are the most in Texas history and ranks in the Top 10 nationally. He also broke J.P. Shofi's single-season record with 2,629 yards receiving in 2019.
Was Daniels' favorite target for the Southern California power and especially during his final two seasons. Hauled in 132 receptions for over 2,500 yards and 41 touchdowns in 2016 and 2017.
Led the Longhorns to back-to-back state championships wins over Katy (Texas) and had 134 receptions for nearly 2,500 yards and 46 touchdowns in 2013 and 2014.
Owns the state record in receptions (366), receiving yards (5,926) and touchdown receptions (80).
His 39 touchdown receptions during his junior season are the most all-time. He finished his career with 211 receptions for over 4,500 yards and 76 touchdowns.
OL — Evan Neal, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), Class of 2019 The anchor of the offensive line for one of the top programs in the country. Was a Top 10 recruit overall and No. 1 offensive tackle in the Class of 2019 on 247Sports composite rankings.
Four-year starter and was the No. 1 overall recruit in the Class of 2017, according to 247Sports.
OL — Myles Murao, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), Class of 2020 Played a huge role in the Monarchs success. Named to the MaxPreps first team after a dominant senior season.
The Vikings had one playoff appearance prior to his arrival. He led them to the postseason all four years. He was a Division 2 all-state selection as a junior and senior.
Became the first player in Idaho history to twice win the Gatorade Player of the Year. Started every game during his four year career going 41-6 and led them to a 5A state championship in 2014.
Named the Colorado Gatorade Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013. Ended his career as the state's all-time leader in career points (848), touchdowns (141) and all-purpose yards (8,845).
Won four state championships and played quarterback his final two years at the South Carolina power. Threw for over 5,000 yards and 59 touchdowns to go with another 1,600-plus yards on the ground and 25 more scores.

A four-year starter for one of the top programs in the country. The top rated strong-side defensive end in the Class of 2017 racked up 20 sacks from his sophomore to senior season.
The No. 2 overall recruit in the nation on 247Sports composite rankings. Finished his career with 204 tackles, 65 tackles for loss and 28 sacks.
The 5-star defensive lineman accounted for 56 sacks.
Finished with 134 tackles, 35 sacks and 80.5 tackles for loss. Led the Hornets to three state championships as the top rated player in the country for the Class of 2020 on 247Sports composite rankings.
Named the Gatorade Player of the Year in 2013 and the 5-star defensive lineman racked up 176 tackles and 29 sacks during his two seasons with the Tigers.
Had 220 tackles and 38 tackles for loss during his senior season and ended his career with over 640 tackles and 96 tackles for loss.
After
transferring to the Las Vegas power before his sophomore season he
posted 240 tackles, 45 tackles for loss and eight sacks. The Gaels
finished No. 1 in the country during his junior year.
Recorded 413 tackles during his career and helped the Cavaliers to a CIF Division 2 state championship in 2012. He finished with a game-high 17 tackles in a 42-15 win over Oakdale.
Led Wolverines to three consecutive 14-0 seasons and was a big-time playmaker in all three phases.
Bookie
was a big-time playmaker at Calabasas (Calif.) before transferring to
IMG for his senior season. He intercepted five passes for the Ascenders
while leading them to a spot at No. 2 in the final Top 25 rankings.
DB — Kelee Ringo, Saguaro (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Class of 2020 The 5-star defensive back was the top-rated cornerback in the Class of 2020 on 247Sports composite rankings and should make an immediate impact at Georgia.
Has a chance to be the first safety drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft and his skills were on full display in high school. Over his final two seasons, he racked up 192 tackles and 16 interceptions while leading Hornets to back-to-back state championship game appearances in Georgia's largest classification.
DB — Grant Delpit, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), Class of 2017 If McKinney isn't the first safety drafted it will probably be because of Delpit. After being one of the top players in Texas, he transferred to IMG for his senior season and led the Ascenders to a spot at No. 3 in the Top 25 finishing the year with 47 tackles and five interceptions.
Had over 240 tackles, 64.5 tackles for loss, 42.5 sacks during his career and rushed for over 1,200 yards and 29 touchdowns during his senior season.
AP — Lamont Wade, Clairton (Pa.), Class of 2017Rushed for over 7,000 yards and accounted for 117 total touchdowns to go with 14 interceptions on defense.
