Basketball Recap: Browne Comes Up Short

Browne lost against Cesar Chavez back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Browne Bruins took a blow against the Cesar Chavez Champions, falling 93-6. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Champions are ranked 56th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cesar Chavez to victory, but perhaps none more so than Malia Woodberry, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten steals. Woodberry continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Alex Ballard was another key player, going 9 for 15 on her way to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Browne's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Cesar Chavez, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Browne has already played their next matchup (against South Mountain), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Cesar Chavez, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 65-25 win against Shadow Ridge on the 7th.
