Basketball Game Preview: Calvert Hall Cardinals vs. John Carroll Patriots

Calvert Hall is 1-9 against John Carroll since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Calvert Hall Cardinals will face off against the John Carroll Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Calvert Hall is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Saturday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 55-52 to Roosevelt, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 91st in Maryland, while the Roughriders are ranked sixth in District of Columbia).

Meanwhile, John Carroll was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-55 heartbreaker at the hands of McDonogh.

Calvert Hall's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for John Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Calvert Hall took a serious blow against John Carroll in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 74-47. Can Calvert Hall avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
