Softball Recap: Ooltewah Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Ooltewah, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Chattanooga Central Pounders on Monday. This was payback for the Owls, who suffered a 6-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Hailey Schmidt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Jaeda Tucker was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Keely Miller, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Ooltewah's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Chattanooga Central, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-1.

Ooltewah has already played their next game, a 12-0 win against East Ridge on the 11th. As for Chattanooga Central, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 20-0 victory against Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences on the 11th.
