Recap: Somerset Prep vs. Lakewood Spartans
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact Somerset Prep proved on Tuesday. They took down Lakewood 62-44. With that win, Somerset Prep brought their scoring average up to 55.5 points per game.
Leading Somerset Prep to victory were Riley Stoker and Jocelyn Gagnon. Stoker dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Gagnon scored 18 points along with 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Stoker has scored at least 25% of Somerset Prep's points. Isyss Mims was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Riana Callihan, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sumayah McIntosh, who scored 8 points along with 7 assists and 7 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Somerset Prep and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Lakewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Somerset Prep will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against West Boca Raton at 7:00 p.m. on November 27th. As for Lakewood, they will be playing at home against Northeast at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday.
