Baseball Recap: Cheyenne Mountain Takes Down Windsor in a Playoff Battle

Cheyenne Mountain had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Windsor Wizards on Friday. Five seems to be a good number for the Red-Tailed Hawks as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Charlie Scofield made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other pitching news, Charlie Doyle looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Colin Downs was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Cheyenne Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Windsor, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-8.

Looking ahead, Cheyenne Mountain will head out on the road to face off against Golden at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Demons will roll in looking for their 21st straight win, something the Red-Tailed Hawks surely won't give up without a fight. Windsor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
