Basketball Recap: Carolina Academy Comes Up Short

Carolina Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They lost to the West-Oak Warriors on the road by a 48-33 margin. While the Trojans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Warriors 12-8 in the first quarter.

West-Oak got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Max Wallace out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most boards Wallace has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Harry Burgess, who posted 17 points.

Carolina Academy's record is now 0-12. As for West-Oak, with the win, they broke their nine-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-10.

Carolina Academy and West-Oak could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. Carolina Academy (ranked 282nd) will meet Palmetto (ranked 77th) at 8:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Meanwhile, West-Oak will face off against Daniel at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025 down 195 places (234 vs. 39).
