Basketball Recap: Clare Comes Up Short

Clare was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ithaca Yellowjackets. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 533rd, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 63rd).

Clare's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Ithaca, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.

Clare is taking a road trip to face off against Bullock Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bullock Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Clare likes a good challenge. As for Ithaca, they will square off against Valley Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
