Basketball Recap: West Rowan Takes a Loss

West Rowan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a blow against the South Rowan Raiders, falling 62-22. The Falcons were down 48-21 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Kynlee Dextraze had an outrageously good game for South Rowan as she dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most points Dextraze has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Dabrianna Pharr, who went 5 of 12 en route to 12 points and eight rebounds.

West Rowan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for South Rowan, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7.

West Rowan and South Rowan could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. West Rowan (ranked 562nd) will meet Northwest Cabarrus (ranked 117th) at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd. Similarly, South Rowan (ranked 447th) will meet East Rowan (ranked 164th) at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd.
