Basketball Recap: Kings Way Christian School Comes Up Short

Kings Way Christian School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by the Victory Baptist Warrior 77-22. If the Crusaders were looking for revenge after losing 66-28 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Drew Hayman was Kings Way Christian School's leading scorer, having posted six points. Hayman also led the team in rebounds with seven.

Dontaye Bell was his usual excellent self, putting up 12 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists for Victory Baptist. Bell also grabbed six steals, which is notable because Victory Baptist is 2-1 when he posts at least five steals, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brayden Jameson, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Kings Way Christian School's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Victory Baptist, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kings Way Christian School will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sugar Hill Christian Academy at 8:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Victory Baptist, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against HALO at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. HALO knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Victory Baptist likes a good challenge.
