Softball Recap: West Franklin Comes Up Short

Thursday just wasn't the day for West Franklin's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Osage City Indians on Thursday. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Zoe Dowd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

West Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Osage City, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Osage City beat West Franklin by a score of 4-1 later that day.
