Basketball Recap: Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer Falls Despite Big Games from Laramie Glathar and Lillian Bowen

After flying high against Pawnee City last Tuesday, Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer came back down to earth. The Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer Titans fell to the Johnson County Central Thunderbirds 39-34. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunderbirds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lillian Bowen, who posted 22 points and six steals, and Laramie Glathar, who earned six points along with 11 boards and five steals. Bowen is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Even though they lost, Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 20 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for Johnson County Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-5.

Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-10 victory against Parkview Christian on the 24th. Johnson County Central has also already played their next match, a 51-22 win against Falls City on the 25th.
