Recap: Arickaree Bison vs. Lone Star Longhorns
The Arickaree Bison entered their tilt with the Lone Star Longhorns with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Arickaree managed a 35-30 win over the Longhorns on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Arickaree also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Arickaree's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from JANIYA SMITH, who scored 16 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which SMITH has scored at least a third of Arickaree's points. LILLY MONAT was another key contributor, scoring two points along with 12 rebounds and six steals.
Lone Star lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aleighcea Kuntz, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jade Kuntz, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Arickaree pushed their record up to 9-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Lone Star, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
Arickaree will be playing at home against the Wolves at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Idalia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday. As for Lone Star, they will head out on the road to square off against the Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Harjas Thiara and Kuntz.
