Basketball Game Preview: Bryan County Redskins vs. McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers

The Bryan County Redskins will face off against the McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Bryan County was able to grind out a solid win over Claxton, taking the game 67-57. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Redskins.

Meanwhile, McIntosh County Academy came tearing into Saturday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 47-39 victory over the Bears. The 47-point effort marked the Buccaneers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

McIntosh County Academy's win came from a few key players Bryan County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Mj Quarterman, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Fortune Hicks was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Bryan County pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for McIntosh County Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Bryan County was taken down by McIntosh County Academy 90-27 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Bryan County was down 35-14.
