Basketball Recap: James Kenan Starts Season with Loss at Home

James Kenan unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell to the Southern Wayne Saints 69-63. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 60-58 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Southern Wayne's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kairell Evans, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. Jaden Hardy was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Southern Wayne moved to 1-3 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

James Kenan won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Midway at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Midway has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Southern Wayne, they will host Eastern Wayne at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
