Baseball Recap: Air Academy Wins Going Away Against La Grande

While Air Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on the La Grande Tigers with a sharp 14-1 victory on Tuesday. With that win, the Kadets brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Sam Brennan tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.

On the hitting side, Ayden Honeywood was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Sullivan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Air Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Air Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-0-1. As for La Grande, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Air Academy will square off against Roosevelt at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. As for La Grande, a feisty cat fight will be fought as La Grande Tigers duke it out with Pueblo Central Wildcats at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Their pitchers better be ready for this one: Pueblo Central has averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
