Basketball Game Preview: Baldwin Bears vs. Maui Sabers

Baldwin is 0-10 against Maui since December of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Baldwin Bears will head out on the road to take on the Maui Sabers at 7:00 p.m.

Baldwin is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game last Friday. They took a 30-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of King Kekaulike. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by exactly nine points.

Meanwhile, Maui waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They claimed a resounding 56-19 win over the Lunas. With that victory, the Sabers brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.

Maui's win came from a few key players Baldwin will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Darsee Seegmiller, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Naiara Bal, who posted ten points and three steals.

Maui smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Maui pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points per game. As for Baldwin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.

Baldwin was dealt a bruising 57-22 loss at the hands of Maui in their previous meeting on December 13th. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Baldwin was down 35-10.
