Softball Recap: McDonogh Eagles vs. Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers

McDonogh extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-6 in the process. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 back in April.

As for Archbishop Spalding, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games.

For Archbishop Spalding's part, Olivia Rowley was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Rowley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Codi, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.

Looking ahead, McDonogh will be playing in front of their home fans against South Carroll at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Archbishop Spalding does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
