Volleyball Recap: South Salem Saxons vs. Sacred Heart Valkyries
South Salem is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Sacred Heart. The Saxons came out on top against the Valkyries by a score of 2-0.
Briella Mathis paced South Salem's offense, picking up seven kills. Mathis got some help from Kamree Orizotti and her 17 assists. Mathis was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.
Despite the loss, Sacred Heart still got an impressive performance from Campbell Miles, who had 11 digs and two assists.
South Salem has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Sacred Heart, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-16.
South Salem wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against North Salem on the 30th. As for Sacred Heart, they will challenge Blazer at 7:00 p.m. on the 6th.
