Basketball Recap: Hope Christian Academy Gets the Win

Hope Christian Academy won the last time they faced First Christian and Grant Timonere did his part to make sure it happened again. Hope Christian Academy came out on top against First Christian by a score of 59-47 on Monday for which the team can thank Timonere, who shot 40% from the field on his way to 21 points. His big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Joelle Smith, who went 7-for-13 en route to 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Hope Christian Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for First Christian, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Hope Christian Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Northside Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 18th. As for First Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Westwood Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
