Basketball Recap: Maclay Takes a Loss

Maclay has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were dealt a 58-19 defeat at the hands of the Pinson Valley Indians on Saturday. The matchup marked the Marauders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Lauren Guyer was Maclay's leading scorer, having posted nine points.

Pinson Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabbie Hopson, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alissa Hawkins, who went 7 for 14 on her way to 17 points.

Maclay's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Pinson Valley, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-11.

Maclay has already played their next game, a 59-21 defeat against Dawson County on the 30th. As for Pinson Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 61-43 loss against Westlake on the 30th.
