Preview: McKenzie Eagles vs. Triangle Lake Lakers
McKenzie is 2-8 against Triangle Lake since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The McKenzie Eagles will be staying on the road to face off against the Triangle Lake Lakers at 1:30 p.m. on February 10th. Hopefully McKenzie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
Last Thursday, McKenzie came up short against Alsea and fell 52-40. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for McKenzie in their matchups with Alsea: they've now lost five in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Rhys Hamlow, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and eight steals. Another player making a difference was Allen Acevedo, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Triangle Lake didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Crow/City First Christian Academy on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 53-48 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Triangle Lake.
McKenzie has not been sharp recently as the team has lost 14 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-20 record this season. As for Triangle Lake, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5.
McKenzie was taken down by Triangle Lake 74-47 when the teams last played on Saturday. Can McKenzie avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
