Softball Game Preview: Northwood Gators vs. Rapides Mustangs

The Northwood Gators will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Rapides Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northwood will be strutting in after a win while Rapides will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Tuesday, everything went Northwood's way against Georgetown as Northwood made off with a 17-2 victory.

Micheala Bolden was a standout: she scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Mia Ambrose, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Rapides unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 21-0 to Ville Platte on Tuesday.

Everything went Northwood's way against Rapides when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Northwood made off with a 15-0 win. Will Northwood repeat their success, or does Rapides have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
