Basketball Game Preview: North Stanly Comets vs. Albemarle Bulldogs

Having just played yesterday, the North Stanly Comets will jump right back in to play the Albemarle Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, North Stanly earned a 33-21 win over South Stanly. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Comets.

Meanwhile, Albemarle entered their tilt with Montgomery Central on Wednesday with ten consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with 11. They blew past the Timberwolves 65-22. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 408th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Stanly better keep an eye on Amari Baldwin. She was instrumental in Albemarle's win, almost dropping a double-double with 23 points and nine steals. Baldwin's evening made it 18 games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Jasmine Brown was another key player, going 8-for-15 on her way to 17 points and five boards.

Albemarle was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Albemarle pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.8 points over those games. As for North Stanly, their win bumped their record up to 13-11.

North Stanly was dealt a bruising 70-16 defeat at the hands of Albemarle in their previous meeting on Tuesday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Baldwin, who went 13-for-25 en route to 31 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.
