Volleyball Recap: Elder Falls to St. Xavier in First Game of Season

Elder unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the St. Xavier Tigers by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Elder couldn't get the win, but they sure gave St. Xavier a tough time in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 29-31, 25-20, 25-23, 21-25, 15-13.

St. Xavier was led to victory by Dalton Lutes and Isaac Lotze. Lutes had 22 digs and two assists, while Lotze had nine kills, five aces, four digs, and one block. That's the most aces Lotze has posted since back in April of 2024.

The win got St. Xavier back to even at 1-1.

Coincidentally, Elder and St. Xavier will both be playing Thomas Worthington the next time they take the court. Elder will host Thomas Worthington at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while St. Xavier will play them later in the day, at 11:30 a.m.
