Volleyball Recap: Bree Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kimball over Melrose + How To Watch

Kimball was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Melrose Dutchmen. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cubs of the 2-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2022.

Kimball took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 21-25, 23-25, 25-18, 15-7.

Kimball's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bree Johnson, who had 22 assists and nine digs. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Kimball's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Melrose, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kimball will host Paynesville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Melrose, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Royalton at 7:00 p.m.
