Softball Recap: Santa Cruz Takes a Loss

After flying high against Harbor on Thursday, Santa Cruz came back down to earth. The Cardinals lost 15-4 to the Monte Vista Christian Mustangs on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 10-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Ellia Dunton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Pisciotta, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Santa Cruz has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Monte Vista Christian, their record now sits at 10-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Cruz will take on Scotts Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monte Vista Christian, they will face off against Rancho San Juan at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs are facing the Trailblazers at the right time seeing as the Trailblazers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
