Preview: Minerva Lions vs. Northwest Indians
The Minerva Lions will head out on the road to take on the Northwest Indians at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Minerva is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Minerva suffered their biggest loss since December 13, 2023 on Wednesday. They were dealt a 54-23 loss at the hands of Marlington. Minerva has struggled against Marlington recently, as their match on Wednesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Northwest's 27-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 56-33 walloping at the hands of Tuslaw on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Northwest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 586th, while Tuslaw is ranked 148th).
Minerva has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Northwest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.
