Mt. Eden and Encinal are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Monarchs will host the Jets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mt. Eden is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Mt. Eden came up short against Alameda and fell 7-3. The Monarchs have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Shelby Newcomb was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Meanwhile, Encinal fell victim to San Leandro and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Jets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Encinal dropped their record down to 5-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Mt. Eden, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Mt. Eden might still be hurting after the 20-2 defeat they got from Encinal in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Monarchs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
