Basketball Recap: Brylee Minnick Key Part of a Team Effort in Red Devils Win

Decatur Community won the last time they faced St. Francis and things went their way on Friday too. The Decatur Community Red Devils took down the St. Francis Indians 51-33. The Red Devils pushed the score to 43-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Indians cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Decatur Community to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brylee Minnick, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Maria Rodriguez was another key player, putting up nine points and seven steals.

Decatur Community smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

St. Francis' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Delaney Myers, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds, and Matilynn Smull, who posted two points and six boards. Myers' afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Decatur Community's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for St. Francis, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Decatur Community didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-25 victory against Dighton on the 25th. As for St. Francis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 40-37 defeat against Ness City on the 25th.
