Football Game Preview: Campolindo Cougars vs. Acalanes Dons + How To Watch

For the first time this season, Campolindo will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will face off against the Acalanes Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated (Campolindo has six wins , while Acalanes has seven dating back to last season).

On Friday, Campolindo beat Monte Vista 28-21.

Campolindo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reid Habas led the charge by throwing for 228 yards and three touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (100 yards to be exact) went to Everett Zellmer, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Meanwhile, Acalanes was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 21-10 victory over Miramonte. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Dons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Matadors are ranked 279th).

Campolindo better focus on containing Josh Elerts and Tyler Winkles as the pair were huge in Acalanes' win. Elerts rushed for 161 yards, while Winkles threw for 139 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes.

Acalanes was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 221 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 194 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Campolindo's record is now 6-0. As for Acalanes, their record now sits at 7-0.

Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Micah Parker and Elerts. Parker just won't slow down this season and has averaged 82.4 rushing yards per game. Elerts has been a dominant force too and has averaged 113.3 rushing yards per game.

Campolindo couldn't quite finish off Acalanes when the teams last played back in November of 2024 and fell 20-17. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
