Basketball Recap: Blackford Sets Scoring Season-High Against Alexandria-Monroe

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Blackford). They walked away with a 66-53 victory over the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers on Friday. For the Bruins, this counts as revenge for the 45-40 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Blackford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amarian Leggett, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 18 points in addition to six assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Kitterman, who made all 7 shots he took to post 15 points.

Leggett wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Blackford was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Blackford's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Alexandria-Monroe, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-4.

Blackford will venture away from home to take on Elwood at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. As for Alexandria-Monroe, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 49-43 defeat against Tri-Central on the 14th.
