Volleyball Recap: Donahue Catholic Falls to Marco Island Academy in First Game of Season

Donahue Catholic had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 3-0 to the Marco Island Academy Rays. If the Shamrocks were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Rays when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Donahue Catholic took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-4, 25-6, 25-11.

Marco Island Academy can attribute much of their success to Medney Garraux, who hit 79.3% for 24 kills and five aces and four digs. Garraux is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last 24 games she's played dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Donahue Catholic will head out on the road to face off against Everglades City at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Marco Island Academy, they will host Bonita Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
