Baseball Recap: Girard Triumphs

While Girard's win against Jefferson Area wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Falcons on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.

Camron Herrick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Girard saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Phiilips, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Phiilips is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Evan Tuttle also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Girard now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Jefferson Area, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Girard will welcome Lakeview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Jefferson Area, they will face off against Conneaut at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. This will be the Falcons' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
